DIOCCUSA shall mean Down in Old Car City USA

This retired firetruck spends its last days posing for photos for curious tourists in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in White, Georgia. The Ford (if I recall) had been stripped of most of its fire fighting bits but the mechanicals were all intact.

Kinja'd!!!

The ancient siren on this fire engine is still in admirable shape with no rust. I bet it still works.

Kinja'd!!!

Screenshot from a camera-phone video I took. The only side view I could find.

The truck was mostly stripped behind the cab. I estimate the Ford to be manufactured in the mid to late 40s and probably was in use until the early 1970s; what do you think?

The problem is that now I want to buy those, but I’m assuming they’re not for sale. Not that I would actually buy them if they were, but I want to be able to... W hatever the case, pictures of old cars are pictures of old cars, and I like looking at pictures of old cars, so I say keep up the old car picture posting!

Old car photos, especially if you have history on them, are a responsibility of your membership. Please post in a timely fashion regardless of analytics.

Seconding awesomeaustinv, it hurts to know these things will never get used again, let alone restored. One doesn’t see enough of ‘66 Fairlanes, let alone ‘38 “barrel-nose” trucks.

If the truck was restored, it still wouldn’t get driven, just like my neighbor’s antique fire truck or the ones in museums. This truck probably donated its specialized equipment to a newer truck, which brought it here devoid of most of what made it interesting. At least here, you know where to find them.

I’ve got one going up at 10 AM every day this week. They’re pretty low effort but still interesting, so stay tuned!

Give Old Car City USA a chance if you ever have a day to kill in Atlanta. I wrote plenty more under that tag and you seem like you would enjoy it.
